Humility is a key prerequisite for greater freedom, greater purity, and closer resemblance between you and God. It is a great tool for dissolving the ego-construct. The assumption that you know something is like an edge, or a subtle independent tension, that separates you from the otherwise oceanic sense of Allness or God. Humility is surrender to this Allness, while the opposite of humility is arrogance, or “I know something.” It’s fine to have knowledge, but if we hold it with a sense of identity, then it generates this edge, similar to a wave trying to hold the ocean within form, rather than within its essence. If you can become sensitive to where this edge of ego, or “I know,” is then you can work with it, change it, dissolve it.
